Samsung announces Galaxy Watch Active2 with rotating touch bezel, LTE and more
The original Galaxy Watch Active made its debut some six months ago. However, it didn’t stop Samsung from announcing a successor to the Galaxy smartwatch in the same year.
After unveiling the Galaxy Tab S6 ultralight tablet, the South Korean tech giant also introduced a new Galaxy Watch Active2 smartwatch. Both products came to light ahead of the Note 10 series launch event.
The all-new Galaxy Watch Active2 comes with a few notable upgrades. The smartwatch sports a bigger customizable screen with the signature rotating bezel now upgraded to a new digital version. The now touch-sensitive bezel allows you to rotate both clockwise and counter-clockwise to navigate through the refreshed One UI.
The smartwatch is able to track over 39 workouts with seven of them automatically activated. The updated Running Coach gives you actionable advice in real-time. Moreover, there are new health sensors with faster reading speed. The Samsung Health app helps you track your stress levels in real-time and provides suggestions to guided meditation exercises to relieve stress.
The Galaxy Watch Active2 comes in two different sizes of 44mm (with a 1.4-inch display) and 40mm (with a 1.2-inch display). Both sizes have 360 x 360 resolutions in Super AMOLED display and are protected by Gorilla Glass DX+.
You get to choose between two styles – a lightweight aluminium with a casual Fluoroelastomer (FKM) band, and a more premium solid stainless steel with a leather strap. The smartwatches can be personalized with a range of additional stylish strap and watch-face options.
Other than the standard Bluetooth version, the smartwatch is also available as an LTE model. Plus, the electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor (just like the Apple Watch Series 4) is coming to the smartwatch soon.
